WHERE Botox® CAN BE USED?

The injection of neuromodulator into the muscle through the skin temporarily eliminates or reduces expression wrinkles (those that appear when making any movement or face gesture) such as the forehead,  between the eyebrows, neck and “crow’s feet”. These fine lines are caused by the contraction of the underlying muscles. The neuromodulator temporarily softens these muscles, leaving the skin looking smooth and more youthful.

HOW DOES BOTOX WORK?

Botox® works by temporarily blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles, effectively preventing them from contracting. This process is facilitated by a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When injected into specific muscles, Botox® inhibits the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contraction. As a result, the treated muscles experience temporary paralysis, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and lines caused by repetitive movements like frowning or squinting. With continued treatment, the muscles gradually relax, leading to smoother and more youthful-looking skin.

What To Expect During a Botox Procedure

Botox procedures are known for their minimal invasiveness, speed, and comfort. The technique involves injecting the neuromodulator into the targeted muscle area, inducing relaxation and inhibiting muscle movement.

Before the Treatment:

Your Botox journey commences with a thorough cosmetic consultation. Your facial structure and anatomy will be meticulously assessed to tailor the treatment to your specific needs. The Botox dosage will be carefully determined based on the severity of your wrinkles and muscle activity.

During the Procedure:

Botox treatments are typically brief and painless. The prescribed dosage is drawn into fine, sterile needles and injected into the muscles requiring treatment. The number of injections varies depending on factors like the treatment area's size and muscle activity intensity.

After the Procedure:

Following the treatment, it's important not to rub or massage the treated area for 24 hours to prevent toxin migration. You'll also be advised to avoid lying down for 6 hours post-treatment. After this brief recovery period, you can resume your normal activities without delay.

Results:

The effects of Botox injections usually become noticeable within one to three days, reaching their peak around two weeks post-treatment. To maintain the desired outcome, regular follow-up injections are recommended.

  • Is Botox® painful?
Treatment with Botox® is not painful and is very well tolerated.
  • What Should I Do Before My Botox® Appointment?
Advise your experienced Dermatologist if you've had any type of Botox injections in the past. Alert them of any medical allergies, or if you have any neuromusclar conditions. Avoid blood-thinning medications, stay hydrated, and communicate any concerns with your provider.
  • How Long Does a Botox® Treatment Take?
Feeling apprehensive about your first BOTOX® treatment is normal, but with proper preparation, there's no need for concern. This non-invasive procedure entails administering Botox to targeted areas, with the sensation often likened to a mild insect bite and lasting only 10-20 minutes. Results typically become noticeable within 72 hours (approximately 3 days), reaching their full effect within 2 weeks. Patients are encouraged to assess the results after this two-week period.
  • What Are The Botox® Side Effects?
Although rare and non-permanent, some individuals may experience a brief headache following BOTOX® treatment. To mitigate this risk, it's advisable to abstain from aspirin-containing products before or within a day after the injection, opting for Tylenol if needed. Additionally, remaining relaxed during the injection process can help prevent headaches. While temporary bruising or swelling may occur, a skilled medical injector can minimize any lasting discomfort. Post-treatment, it's recommended to avoid rubbing the treated area, maintain an upright position for four hours, and refrain from vigorous exercise for the remainder of the day. Applying a cold compress can expedite recovery from minor side effects such as bruising and redness.
  • Does Botox® Make You Look Older After It Wears Off?
Consistent use of Botox® over time can train your muscles to produce wrinkle-forming expressions less aggressively. This is beneficial because even after the effects of Botox® diminish, there may be lasting benefits that help prevent the formation of wrinkles associated with aging.
  • Am I a Candidate For Botox®?
BOTOX® treatments are customized for each patient, considering factors like facial structure and eyebrow shape. Our experienced injectors use tailored techniques for natural results, suitable for mentally and physically healthy adults without neuromuscular conditions. While results vary and require patience, ideal candidates should understand the treatment's limitations and be willing to undergo follow-up sessions for desired outcomes. In addition, Some people start getting Botox in their late 20s or 30s as a preventive measure, while others begin when they notice visible signs of aging.
